Memorial for John Peterson
There will be a memorial for John Peterson at Mothers Buttress on August 5th at 11:00 AM. Marti and the Petersons' sons will also attend. Jesse Zacher, President of the Western Colorado Climbers' Coalition, will say a few words about John's inspiration to protect the Unaweep crags. If you have stories to share or comments for Jesse to pass along, please attend or contact Jesse. Thanks!

Unaweep Real Estate Update
We have closed on the sale of the building lot at the base of the Mothers Buttress. It's quite a milestone for us. The neighbors seem like really nice folks and are moving to Unaweep from out-of-state to build a home.
We have the TV Wall property listed for sale. Check it out at christireece.com. The well permit is in place and we're in the process of completing the process to obtain a CDOT driveway permit. What a great place to live--with the Sunday Wall trailhead as a neighbor!
A special thanks goes out to Steve Johnson, Dave Foley, and Jesse Zacher for all their work on this.

John Peterson Memorial
As many of you have heard, we lost John Peterson in a climbing accident this past week.
John's wife, Marti, is in our thoughts.
The Petersons purchased Unaweep's Upper Mothers Buttress about ten years ago, and shortly thereafter, local Grand Junction climbers were approached by the Access Fund to form up a climbers' coalition, get our 501(c)3 status, and buy the cliff portion of the property from the Petersons so that we could all enjoy open access to the cliffs in perpetuity. Thus, the WCCC was born, with the best possible neighbors in the world.
and put “John Peterson Memorial” in the comments box.

JP wasn't big on flowers, religion, or lots of sentimental stuff. In lieu of flowers, please consider one of these organizations to donate to:
JP was very active with the Access Fund. Memorial to the Access Fund would be deeply appreciated:
