WCCC is under contract for Lower Mothers and the TV Wall!
Thanks for all your encouragement as we worked hard all these years to get to this point!
We have some major stipulations to close, but we're on our way.
Of primary importance is acceptance of our loan application by the Access Fund Land Conservation Committee. The Access Fund should have a decision on or around August 10.
We are candidates for a few grants, from the American Alpine Club Cornerstone Grant program, the Access Fund, a private donor's match grant, and GOCO (Great Outdoors Colorado). Stay tuned for more information about these exciting opportunities!

Lower Mothers Buttress and Television Wall 4 Sale
The WCCC is once again neck-deep in access talks regarding popular crags in Unaweep Canyon. As many regionally-active climbers know, over time, the Access Fund, local climbers, and the WCCC have struggled to obtain access rights to the unique granite cliffs of Unaweep. Unfortunately, the crags are on private property, and the surest way to ensure access has been to purchase real estate. Most recently, the WCCC, the Access Fund, and Gunnison climbers John and Marti Peterson purchased the Mothers Buttress. Now, the Lower Mothers and Television Wall are endangered because they are for sale and the climbers have not been able to negotiate a conservation easement or subdivision of the crags.
The WCCC seeks participation from regional climbers and land conservationists to secure this real estate in perpetuity. The parcels total 39.5 acres and are listed for sale. The WCCC seeks interested parties who may be interested in subdividing the crags from the parcels, thereby lowering the tax bill for a private party and ensuring a beautiful, buildable site with a gorgeous crag in the back yard. Donations to defray expenses are very welcome. Interested? Contact western_co_climbers (at)hotmail(dot)com or evetallman@gmail.com.
WCCC is a a501(c)(3) nonprofit. PO Box 1152 / Grand Junction CO 81502. Find WCCC on Facebook. 970-260-7551.

Coaltion Public Meeting
Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone is doing well and settling into this Fall Season. We will be having a public meeting on Nov. 10th at 6:00PM at the Grand Junction Climbing Center. This will be a great opportunity for new and old members to get up-to-speed with what the coalition has been working on over this summer. From Bolt Replacement to more land acquisition, we have topics to explore! As always we will also be selling our T-shirts. Following the movie, the Climbing Center will be viewing the new Climbing Flick "THE SCENE" (http://vimeo.com/23320585). There will also be copies of the move for sale. Admission to this movie will be 10$ per person. If you attend the movie you will receive one free raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets are 5$ and go to the WCCC.
Please bring your wallets and anyone who may be interested in our organization. Stay for the movie and show support for the Grand Valley's best climbing gym!
See you all there,
Jesse Zacher
