Guide Services and Institutions

The following guide services and educational institutions are authorized to use the Unaweep cliffs owned by Western Colorado Climbers' Coalition. These organizations are insured and have official permission to guide on our lands, and we urge folks seeking a guide to support these folks. Please report violations; unauthorized guiding puts us all at risk and is not fair to the guides who have been diligent in securing legal access. WCCC thanks them for their ongoing support of the Western Colorado Climbers' Coalition. If you feel your organization has been left off this list inadvertently, or to report violations, please contact evetallman [at] gmail.

Unaweep Real Estate Update

We have closed on the sale of the building lot at the base of the Mothers Buttress. It's quite a milestone for us. The neighbors seem like really nice folks and are moving to Unaweep from out-of-state to build a home.
We have the TV Wall property listed for sale. Check it out at christireece.com. The well permit is in place and we're in the process of completing the process to obtain a CDOT driveway permit. What a great place to live--with the Sunday Wall trailhead as a neighbor!
A special thanks goes out to Steve Johnson, Dave Foley, and Jesse Zacher for all their work on this.

John Peterson Memorial

As many of you have heard, we lost John Peterson in a climbing accident this past week.
John's wife, Marti, is in our thoughts.

The Petersons purchased Unaweep's Upper Mothers Buttress about ten years ago, and shortly thereafter, local Grand Junction climbers were approached by the Access Fund to form up a climbers' coalition, get our 501(c)3 status, and buy the cliff portion of the property from the Petersons so that we could all enjoy open access to the cliffs in perpetuity.  Thus, the WCCC was born, with the best possible neighbors in the world.

John Peterson Memorial:
The memorial service for John Peterson will be held this Saturday, March 11th at 2pm in the Western State Colorado University Center Ballroom.
There will be a tribute site. Email grhaynes@western.edu for information about how to share your JP stories and photos.
JP wasn't big on flowers, religion, or lots of sentimental stuff. In lieu of flowers, please consider one of these organizations to donate to:
JP was very active with the Access Fund. Memorial to the Access Fund would be deeply appreciated:
